These images document my attempts to write the word, “moon” across the film plane of my 35mm camera using the light of the moon as a stylus. For each attempt, I set the shutter open and held the camera above my head, scribing the word by moving the camera accordingly. This proved to be really difficult; imagine making a drawing by moving the paper, instead of the pencil and you get the idea. Occasionally, a small plane would fly through the scene, leaving a thin trace of its presence in the picture.
